Buying a home is an important decision and one that will determine your lifestyle for years to come.  Some of the considerations you should thing about are:

Be Realistic--there is no perfect home!  Even if you design your home you will at some point wish you had done something differently.

Get Pre-Approved--You may find the perfect house for you and want to write an offer.  Someone else sees the same home and writes an offer accompanied by a pre-approval letter from a local lender.  You write an offer only to learn that the sellers accepted the other offer (the price being the same) because those buyers had been pre-qualified.

Work with a licensed real estate agent--your real estate agent can help you in determining where you want to live, the price of homes in that area, complete a market analysis of what homes are listing for and what they are selling for.  In addition, after the offer is accepted, your agent will help guide you through the home inspection, help negotiate material defects that need to be corrected in the home, schedule a walk through before closing and be a resource once you have moved into your home.
